Question 1

Can I sell my company's data to an AI lab?

Accepted Answer

You license it rather than sell it. Ownership stays with you. A buyer gets a defined right to train on a copy, and we pay $100K to $2M for the operating record of an ordinary business.

Question 2

What is my company's data worth?

Accepted Answer

Headcount and years, not terabytes. A twenty person agency with nine years of work outprices a distributor holding a hundred times the storage. What is being priced is how many people made the record, and for how long.

Question 3

How does a company data licence actually work?

Accepted Answer

A data licence lets Artemis Data Co sell a copy of your data exports (email, accounting, CRM, files) to AI labs. You keep the originals and every right in them. You are paid out of what the buyer pays.

Question 4

Who actually buys company data for AI training?

Accepted Answer

Frontier research labs, and the intermediaries already holding contracts with them. No lab opens an account with a fifty person plumbing contractor. That is why the chain has a middle.

Question 5

Is it legal to license your company's records for AI training?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes, for the records your own people produced. What decides it is not whether AI training is lawful. It is whether you own the specific material, and a lot of what sits in a company's enterprise data is somebody else's.

Question 6

Should you give an AI buyer exclusive rights?

Accepted Answer

Default to non-exclusive. A sale prices a growing asset once, at its smallest. A non-exclusive licence lets the same records be licensed again as they grow.
